Bob Rice is the Alternative Investment Editor at Bloomberg Television, and segment host of “Bob’s Buzzwords”on Money Moves, the only show on television exclusively devoted to Alternative Investing.

Bob has been involved in Alternatives world for 30 years. He is the Founder and Managing Partner of merchant bank Tangent Capital and serves on boards of investment management firms with over $2 billion of assets under management, as well as Gust, the leading platform for seed stage companies and investors.

After starting his career at the U.S. Justice Department, he worked on the early generations of derivatives as a partner at premiere Wall Street’s law firm Milbank, Tweed. He then entered the private equity world via Wexford Capital, where he launched a 3D technology startup that later became the publicly traded Viewpoint, of which he served as CEO.

In 2004, he founded Tangent, whose principals have raised and invested several billions of dollars for and in alternative funds and transactions. Bob has appeared on dozens of major media outlets around the world, and frequently presents at professional, educational, and business events on topics concerning successful strategies for rapidly changing environments. His recently published book, The Alternative Answer: The Nontraditional Investments that Drive the World's Best Performing Portfolios (HarperCollins, 2013) hit #8 on the Wall Street Journal Best-seller list in it’s first week.

W. Danforth Townly

W. Danforth Townley is an Attorney Fellow in the Division of Investment Management at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission in New York and Washington, D.C. Mr. Townley participates in rulemaking activities of the Division and provides advice on policy initiatives affecting the asset management industry. Prior to joining the SEC, Mr. Townley was a partner at Davis Polk & Wardwell LLP, advising clients on the structuring and offering of hedge funds, private equity funds and other investment vehicles and advising on regulatory compliance with the Investment Company Act and the Investment Advisers Act. Mr. Townley has been practicing in New York City for most of his career; he also worked for several years in the Hong Kong and Tokyo offices of Davis Polk. Mr. Townley received his J.D. from the Yale Law School in 1985 and graduated from Yale College with a B.A. in History in 1979. He clerked for U.S. District Court Judge Robert W. Sweet from 1985-86.

Noland Cheng

Mr. Cheng is a 30+ year veteran of the financial services industry. As a senior executive, he has created and managed various business and service entities in retail brokerage, private banking, wealth management and global investment banking firms. Serving on many industry committees, including the Board of Directors of Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation, Mr. Cheng is recognized as an innovator and thought leader in the financial services industry. He has worked closely with all of the major regulatory agencies in the U.S. securities and banking markets, many in situations requiring major remediation or restructuring of the operating structure of firms he was asked to rebuild.

Roderick A. Hardamon

Roderick is the North America Head for Citi Alternative Investment Services. With over $300B in Assets under Administration, Citi Alternative Investment Services provides alternative investment managers with middle office, fund services and other solutions focused on their specific challenges and customized to their individual needs. Roderick has been with Citi for 16 years and previously served as Head of Integration for Securities and Fund Services (SFS). In this role, Roderick was integration lead for the $1.4 billion acquisition of The BISYS Group, Inc. – a top-five hedge fund and mutual fund services provider. He was charged with maximizing the value of SFS’s largest acquisition through effectively improving the cultural, technological, and operational connectivity to Citi.

Jon Anderson
Global Head of Valuations and Trade Processing Services
SS&C GlobeOp

Jon Anderson is the global head of valuations and manages GoTrade+, SS&C Globeop’s trade process outsourcing business. Jon is a member of SS&C GlobeOp’s Management Committee. He recently served on the Alternative Investment Management Association (AIMA) subcommittee tasked with updating valuation sound practices guidelines, focusing on valuation transparency.

Before joining SS&C, Jon was a partner at BlueMountain Capital Management, a private investment company, where he served as head of investment management support, building the firm's risk and profit analytics, collateral management and operations functions. While there, he has also served in a senior industry leadership group that addressed derivatives operational risk issues.

Jon’s prior experience includes Numerix LLC, where he managed the commercial business, and 11 years as head of derivatives trading at Mellon Financial (now BNY Mellon) and at Crédit Agricole in New York.

Jon holds an M.B.A. in Finance from New York University’s Leonard N. Stern School of Business and a B.A. in Economics from Yale University.
